Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic may become the Caribbean’s most attractive destination for international producers to shoot films, hoy.com.do reports, citing sources in the cinema training center “Pinewood Indomina Studios,” whose construction is slated to start Wednesday.
The facility, expected to be finished in 18 months, would be of the highest category in the region and one of the few of its type in Latin America.
The film industry is expected to surge in the country if in addition to that Congress approves an incentives bill submitted by president Leonel Fernandez last year.
Among the incentives, the law would allow the companies to invest money in cash to feature films in the country, to deduct or calculate 100% of the real value invested from the Tax on Income (ISR).
