Residents of Juan Dolio, a small beach town located on the southern coast of the Dominican Republic, are celebrating a major infrastructure upgrade as new sewer lines are being laid throughout the community.
The project, which has been in the works for several years, will finally bring modern sanitation facilities to the town, which has long struggled with inadequate and outdated sewer systems. The new lines will be connected to a central treatment plant, where waste will be properly processed and disposed of, helping to improve public health and the overall quality of life for residents.
Construction on the project began last MAY and is expected to be completed in early 2023. Despite the inconvenience caused by the construction, residents are thrilled at the prospect of having reliable and efficient sewer services.
The project is being carried out by THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT AND THE MINISTER OF TOURISM. Government officials along with business owners have advocated for the project stating that “This is a significant step forward for our community, and we are thrilled to finally be able to bring this much-needed infrastructure upgrade to our residents. Improving the quality of life for all of our citizens, and this project is a major step in that direction.”
The new sewer lines are expected to have a positive impact on the environment as well, reducing the amount of untreated waste that is released into the ocean and helping to improve the overall water quality of the area.
Overall, the community of Juan Dolio including tourism is looking forward to a bright future with the new sewer lines, which will greatly improve the quality of life for all.
