2012 Olympics – Dominican Republic’s Monday blues became gold and silver, when Felix “Super” Sanchez became not only the first Dominican to ever win an Olympic gold medal, but now a second after taking first in the 400 meter hurdles at 47.63 in the 2012 London Games.
Luguelin Santos, 18, also beat the odds for the silver medal, in the same track and even the same lane in which Sanchez had ran just 45 minutes earlier.
In the two previous heats Sanchez had also won first place with personal best Saturday, with 47.76, his fastest since the 2004 Athens Olympics where he won his first gold medal.
