Juan Dolio Beach has the finest public beach area on Dominican Republic’s south coast located 40 minutes east of Santo Domingo. The bay has consistent swells and breaks making it a surprisingly overall good surf location for all levels who want to enjoy surfing and body boarding. The sandy bottom allows swimmers and surfers to comfortably walk out into the waves.
Charlie Salas runs Island Surf, where you can get lessons or simply just want to rent a board or kayak. Charlie is well known in Mexico as the professor of surfing and is a great addition to Juan Dolio. You can stop by after 10:30 a.m. to schedule lessons no matter what the age or give him a call to ask any questions you might have.
